For many years prior to year 2003, the Quail Lodge, located in serene Carmel Valley California, hosted the world-renowned car show "Concorso Italiano". The show became a very well attended event. So well, in fact, that the spirit of automotive individuality was all but lost. In order to recapture an atmosphere revolving around the history and evolution of motor sports, a new event was born: "The Quail... A Motorsports Gathering". To commemorate the event, a special gift was designed and produced as a limited edition. A box was machined from aluminum then inset with an engine turned stainless steel plate. Engine turning has significance in the automobile, motorcycle and aviation histories. An edition of 203 boxes was produced to represent the year of the initial event. 17 artists proofs were also produced. Each box has been hand stamped with the edition number and is accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the designer/craftsman and an executive from Quail Lodge. The 17 artists proofs are available for purchase. Of the 203 boxes produced, only 2 are still available. These highly crafted gift boxes will become rare memorabilia in the years to come.
